Mabel "Jo" Josephine Payne Frost, 84, of 311 Cashwell Drive, died Saturday at her residence. Born in Galax, Va., she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Mary Jane Felts Payne and wife of the late Lt. Col. Rufus Frost. Prior to a period of declining health, she was an active member of Madison Ave. Baptist Church and her Sunday School Class. She was a member of the MOAA and was a dedicated caregiver to others that were in need.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Talmadge Williams officiating. Entombment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Frost is survived by one son, James Frost of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Metts of Goldsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Saranne Payne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandchildren, David Matthew Younger of Goldsboro, James David Frost Jr. of Greenville; and six caregivers, Ann Collie, Linda Smith, Barbara Hill, Shirley Robinson, Dottie Littleton and Maggie Whaley.

The family will greet friends 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
