Evelyn Smith Williams, 71, of 11501 Suttontown Road, died Thursday.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Bill Cotton and Reynolds Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born in 1936 in Sampson County, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Lucille Byrd Smith and the late Thel B. Smith. She was a member of Bethlehem Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon L. "Bill" Williams; two daughters, Teela W. Strickland and Sheila Williams-Coats, both of Faison; two sisters, Shelvy Jean Black of Thomasville and Freda Sutton of Clinton; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and two step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at her home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
