CHARLES R. DAIL

Nov. 6, 1949-April 16, 2007

HOOKERTON -- Charles Ray Dail, 57, died Monday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital following a battle with cancer. A native of Lenoir County, he was born the son of Roy Lee and Doris Dail. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era with tours of duty that carried him overseas. Prior to his retirement, he was a captain with the Greene County sheriff's department. Mr. Dail attended Mount Calvary FWB Church, Hookerton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, Snow Hill, with the Rev. Van Mitchell and the Rev. Jim Marcum officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Dail.

His surviving family includes his wife, Kate Moore Dail of the home; sons, Michael Ray Dail of Durham and Travis Lee Dail and wife, Pamela, of Snow Hill; mother, Doris Williams Dail of Grifton; sister, Annie D. Smith of Walstonburg; brother, Jasper Dail of Grifton; and grandchildren, Adyn, Kalyn, Ashton and Jackson.

Family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home, 106 E. Greene St, Hookerton.
