HENRY T. MAPLES

April 22, 1920-April 9, 2007

HAMPSTEAD -- Henry Thomas Maples, 86, died Monday at his residence.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Charlie and Bertha Aycock Maples. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia H. Maples; brother, Hyrum Maples; sisters, Ollie Jones and Betty Chestnutwood; great-granddaughter, Virginia Grace Revelas.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hampstead, conducted by Bishop Ernie Fretwell. Interment will follow in the Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Hampstead.

Mr. Maples was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hampstead, and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a mail contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne M. Hess and husband, Clyde, and Thora M. Maready, all of Rocky Point; sons, H. Duane Maples and wife, Karma, of Hampstead and Thad Carson Maples of Rocky Point; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Olsen, Ruby Haws, Dorothy Schvaneveldt and Martha Smith, all of Utah.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel.
