MOUNT OLIVE -- Carol Frances Casey Byrd, 63, 101 McPhail Blvd., died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of Sam C. Casey Jr. of Dudley and the late Sara Windsor Casey. A retired teacher with the Wayne County school system, she taught at Brogden Primary School and was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. She was a graduate of East Carolina University where she received a bachelor of science degree in education, master's degree in education and an educational specialist degree. She was a member of the N.C. Association of Educators.
Memorial service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Luby H. Byrd Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Craig Stephen and Beth Hunter Byrd of Goldsboro; daughter, Kelly S. Byrd of Mount Olive; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Neal Casey and wife, Connie, and Dennis P. Casey, all of Dudley.
At other times the family will be at the home, 101 McPhail Blvd., Mount Olive. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Emmaus Baptist Church, 714 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C. 28333.
