NELSON H. CALLAHAN

Nelson H. Callahan, 69, 423 Forest Drive, died Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Callahan was born in Rutherford County to the late Willie Birch and Lula Mae Hord Callahan. He retired as Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked as a building contractor in the Wayne County area and had served as the president of the N.C. Home Builders Association. Mr. Callahan was currently working with Stone Construction Company and was an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Louis Hill officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy "Pat" Dixon Callahan; daughters, Carol Lynn Callahan and Renee Callahan Edge and husband, Randy, all of Goldsboro; grandson, Dillon Edge; and several nieces and nephews.

The Madison Men's Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina, 505 Oberlin Road, Suite 230, Raleigh, 27605-1345.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church and other times at his home.
