Elmer Lee Blevins, 78, of 2052 Stevens Mill Road, died Saturday evening.

Mr. Blevins was born in Smythe County, Virginia on June 8, 1928 to the late Rufus Blevins and Bessie Mae Pennington Blevins. He was married to the late Betty June Harris Blevins. Mr. Blevins was a retired auto mechanic and his hobbies included fishing, camping, watching bull riding, and Nascar. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his son, John Wesley Blevins and wife, Cindy, of Goldsboro; his daughters, Barbara Hartley and Susan Worrell, both of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Christopher Hartley, Stephanie Dail, Dana Smith, Jennifer Fields, Taylor Worrell, and James Batts II; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, James Blevins and wife, Carol, of Marion, Va.; his sisters, Edna Johnson, Hazel Peake, Mary Freeman and Elizabeth Sexton, all of Marion, Va.; and his special friend, Margie Barden and her family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicky Batts; a brother, Leftwich Blevins; and sisters, Edith Holmes and Martha Freeman.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
