James Pitt, 89, 226 S. Spence Ave., died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Elm Grove Church of Christ, with pastor Kenneth D. Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park-North.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Clara Wooten Pitt and his wife, Jossie L. Barnes Pitt.
He is survived by three daughters, Annie C. Lindsey of Virginia, Pennella R. Lewis of Georgia and Jo Ann P. Nichols, of the home; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jesse James Pitt of Mount Olive.
Viewing was held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, Goldsboro.
