PIKEVILLE -- Joseph Claude Rose, 66, 1716 Lancaster Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wayne County to Margaret Bass Rose of Goldsboro and the late Hubert Lee Rose. He was a self-employed truck driver and had worked as a ranger at Wedgewood Golf Course.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Belvin and Dr. Don Sauls officiating. Burial will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Ricky Joe Rose and wife, Lena, of LaGrange; Cindy Barnes and husband, David, Angie Jones and husband, Ronnie, and Christy Rose all of Pikeville; the mother of his children, Peggy Sasser of Pikeville; his sisters, Annette Radford and husband, Donald, Betsy Read and husband, Dick, and Cathy Harrison and husband, Kenny, all of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Dana Sauls and husband Tray, Lee Ann Julien and husband, Matt, Ronnie Jones, Brandon Lassiter and wife, Sara, Heather Barnes, Keith Barnes, Michael Rose, Brittany Jones and Candice Rose and his great-grandchildren, Dawson and Hailee Sauls.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church, 400 Birch Drive, Goldsboro, 27534.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times at his home.
