WARSAW -- George Daniel Bennett Jr., 73, 214 E. Hill St., died Sunday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Major. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal.
Memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Warsaw Baptist Church, followed by inurnment with full military honors at Devotional Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Daniel Bennett Sr. and Marie Burt Bennett.
He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Clark Bennett of Warsaw; a daughter, Susannah Marie Bennett of Baltimore.
Visitation will be today at the home and after the memorial service and inurnment Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Warsaw Baptist Church, Warsaw 28398 or to the American Lung Association.
