JOYCE S. JONES

MOUNT OLIVE -- Joyce Sandlin Jones, 72, 807 N. Church St., died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Annie Jones Sandlin and sister of the late Jimmy Ray Sandlin. She was a member of the Mount Olive Pickle Kickers and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 103 in Mount Olive. She had attended the Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Elwood Jones of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie J. and Tom Preston, Bonnie J. and Ken Herring, and Donna J. and Bill Dawson, all of Mount Olive; nine grandchildren, Thomas Preston III, Justin Preston, Allison Preston, Cody Herring, Erica Ginn, Emily Herring, Michael Holmes, James Holmes, and Zach Dawson; and a great-grandchild, Madison Holmes.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Bartlett and the Rev. Jimmie Swinson officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends. At other times, they will be at the residence. The committal service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
