Eastpointe names new medical director

Dr. Sid Hosseini, a psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience, has been named the medical director for Eastpointe Human Services.
Hosseini will start in mid-May as medical director for Eastpointe, a managed care organization that oversees behavioral health care services in 11 counties, including Wayne.
"We are so pleased to have a physician with the experience and expertise that Dr. Hosseini brings to us," said Sarah Stroud, Eastpointe chief executive officer.
"His years of providing inpatient and community services, in both the public and private sector, and especially his work in the integration of behavioral and physical health, brings the expertise Eastpointe needs as we transition to integrated care."
As medical director, Hosseini will oversee the clinical decision-making process for Eastpointe and approved behavioral health care services. He will also be responsible for ensuring the delivery of cost-effective and quality care, maintaining the clinical integrity of the program and will provide guidance for clinical operations, according to an Eastpointe news release
Hosseini, currently the psychiatric medical director of outpatient and inpatient services at Southeastern Health, in Lumberton, is an assistant professor and preceptor at Campbell University's medical school.
He has 17 years of experience at Southeastern Health where he has worked in several capacities, including in the emergency department, inpatient and outpatient clinics and consultation and liaison services.
He was previously employed by Southeastern Regional Mental Health as an outpatient and inpatient psychiatrist. Hosseini has been involved in community mental health for 10 years, including extensive work in telepsychiatry and the integration of behavioral and physical health, according to Eastpointe.
He is a published author, has received numerous awards and honors and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
"I hope, with my extensive field experience in psychiatry, I will be able to enhance the services to persons dealing with mental health, intellectual (and) developmental disabilities and substance abuse in Eastpointe's rural, eastern counties of North Carolina," Hosseini said.
Eastpointe manages behavioral health care services for residents in Wayne, Wilson, Duplin, Lenoir, Sampson, Greene, Edgecombe, Bladen, Columbus, Robeson and Scotland counties.
