Five-year-old boy hospitalized after being hit by truck Monday night

Police respond to the scene where a 5-year-old boy was hit by a truck on Berkeley Boulevard Monday night. Police are asking for helping in finding the driver of the truck that hit the child.
A 5-year-old boy is at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville today after a truck hit the child as he crossed North Berkeley Boulevard with his mother Monday night.
The driver fled the scene.
The Goldsboro Police Department is asking for help finding the red truck with Georgia plates they say struck the boy.
In a press release posted on Facebook Tuesday morning, the agency said the truck has damage above the driver's side headlight.
The truck is also reportedly missing chrome trim from around the driver's side fog light.
According to the release, the truck was being operated by a white man.
Businesses along Berkeley Boulevard, specifically those near T-Mobile, are asked to review their security and surveillance footage and see if they captured the hit and run.
If a business captured footage of the hit and run, they should call Capt. LeAnn Rabun or officer Michael Parks at 919-580-4272.

The child was not the first person to be hit crossing the main thoroughfare on Monday.
Earlier in the day a 52-year-old man was crossing North Berkeley Boulevard at Cashwell Drive when he was struck by a 32-year-old woman making a left onto Cashwell from Berkeley.
The crash report on the incident said the man stepped out from behind a stopped car without looking as the woman made the turn.
He was conscious on the scene and able to speak with officers and other emergency personnel, though his face was bloodied.
He was loaded into the back of an ambulance and taken to Wayne UNC Health Care.
