Three teens arrested for one of two shootings Friday

Full SizePolice say two shootings that happened Friday -- one of which injured two people -- are not related despite their proximity in time and location.
The first took place at about 10:18 a.m. Friday, when Goldsboro police responded to a ShotSpotter alert near South Slocumb Street and Harrell Street.
Officers arrived at 1717 S. Slocumb St. and discovered several shots had been fired into the Slocumb Mini Mart, and a vehicle parked outside was also damaged by the gunfire.
Police saw a car fleeing the scene as they arrived, a press release said.
They chased the car and tried to stop it, but the driver allegedly refused to pull over, fleeing for a short distance before crashing in the 400 block of Murray Street.
Everyone inside reportedly got out and fled on foot, but three people were apprehended when officers searched the area.
All of them were teenagers.
Goldsboro residents Jalen D. Taylor, 17, and Dezhar M. Howell, 16, and Kaniesha M. Cooper, 16, of Dudley, are each charged with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property, damage to property and resisting, delaying and obstructing.
Taylor was jailed under a $350,000 secured bond, while Cooper and Howell were jailed under a $250,000 secured bond each.
Only seven minutes later, at about 10:25 a.m. Friday, Goldsboro police responded to the 900 block of Hugh Street in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.
They arrived and found Terry Moore inside a car, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care by an ambulance, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Another victim, identified by police as Derrick Wooten, reported that he was walking in the area and was grazed by a stray projectile.
Wooten was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care by a private vehicle and also treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting on Hugh Street remains under investigation.
Police said in a press release "there is nothing to suggest that the two incidents are connected."
