Say it ain't snow, but don't put away the cold-weather and snow gear just yet.

There is a 30 to 40 percent chance Wednesday that snow will fall on Wayne County for the second time in two weeks, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

However, it is too early to predict what, if any, accumulation there will be, said meteorologist Mike Moneypenny.

"We have this front that is going to be coming through on Tuesday," he said. "We are going to be warming up to about 50 degrees on Tuesday ahead of it."

Temperatures will fall into the low 20s Tuesday night after the front moves through.

"Then Wednesday temperatures are going to be falling off into what it looks like highs in the mid-30s over in the Goldsboro area," Moneypenny said. "That northwest flow coming in, we have at least a chance of snow for the middle of the week."

It appears the snow could fall Wednesday afternoon with breezy conditions and the wind out of the north, he said.

"It is going to a matter of waiting to see what kind of moisture this system is going to bring down with it," Moneypenny said. "So, the chance is there for sure, especially during the day on Wednesday.

"But as for amounts right, let's give it a little more time to get closer."

Today's high temperature is forecast to be 37 degrees under sunny skies falling to 19 degrees overnight.

Sunny skies will continue Monday with a high of 40 degrees and overnight lows of 24.
