Local, state offices to close for Martin Luther King Day

Local, state and federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

All Wayne County offices will be closed with the exception of essential personnel from the Office of Emergency Services.

City of Goldsboro offices will be closed and garbage and recycle services for Monday are rescheduled to Wednesday.

Mount Olive town offices will be closed.

The town's Recyclable Center will also be closed and will re-open on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 8 a.m. Yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day and will be picked up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Household garbage pickup will not be affected.

Town halls will be closed in Eureka and Fremont. In Fremont, garbage pickup will be Tuesday instead of Monday.

Pikeville and Walnut town offices will be open.

The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority office will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

The bus service will operate on a holiday schedule, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The van service will operate on a Saturday schedule, running for medical appointments and Americans with Disabilities Act qualified passengers only.

All branches of the Wayne County Public Library will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, but will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 16, for normal business hours.

The Peggy Seegars Senior Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 16.
