The driver of this SUV suffered minor injuries and is likely to be charged following a wreck this afternoon on U.s. 117.

An older man was sent to the hospital when law enforcement says he pulled into traffic and got t-boned on U.S. 117 Saturday afternoon.

N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Holloman said the man was driving a Ford Expedition and was pulling onto U.S. 117. from Smith Chapel Road.

Holloman said he believes sun was a factor in the wreck -- it was setting behind oncoming traffic.

The man -- whose identity was not immediately available -- was struck by a Chevrolet Traverse traveling northbound on U.S. 117.

A family consisting of a mother, father, son and daughter were in the Traverse, Holloman said, but none of them suffered major injuries.

The names of the family members were also not immediately available.

Holloman said the driver of the Ford Expedition suffered a laceration to his head, but was conscious before being taken to the hospital.

Holloman said the man would likely be charged with failure to yeild.
