Local, state and federal offices close for New Year's

Local, state and federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 1, for the New Year's Day holiday.

All branches of the Wayne County Public Library will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

All Wayne County government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

The Wayne County Landfill will closed Monday, Jan. 1, and will re-open on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

All convenience centers will be closed Monday, Jan. 1, and Wednesday, Jan. 3. The centers will be open on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Mount Olive town offices will be closed as well as the recyclables center. The center will re-open on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 8 a.m. Household garbage pickup will not be affected. Yard waste pickup will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of that week. Anyone who has a water or sewer emergency should call 919-658-5031 and choose option 2. This will connect them with dispatch.

The Peggy Seegars Senior Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

The Wayne County Health Department will close Monday, Jan. 1.

The city of Goldsboro will observe New Year's Day on Monday and city offices will be closed. Garbage and recycle services for Monday only are rescheduled for Wednesday.

No bulk pickup service will be offered on Jan. 3, with bulk services resuming on Jan. 10.

Town halls in Pikeville, Walnut Creek, Eureka and Fremont will be closed New Year's Day.

The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority bus services will operate on a holiday schedule, with operating hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The van service will operate on a Saturday schedule running for medical appointments and Americans with Disabilities Act qualified passengers only.
