Kidnapping, armed robbery, overdoses pop up over holiday weekend

A kidnapping, an armed robbery and a fifth drug overdose in as many days capped a busy holiday weekend for the Goldsboro Police Department.
The first incident took place on Nov. 22 outside the Wal-Mart on Tommy's Road. A 31-year-old man said three people, each of whom he knows, kidnapped and robbed him of a $1,500 necklace. The alleged robbery took place in the store's parking lot at about 8:30 p.m., according to the report.
In a separate incident, this one on Sunday shortly after noon, a man entered the KFC at 700 E. Ash St., brandished a handgun and demanded money.
According to a police report, the gunman, a young black man, threatened to use the gun if the employees did not give the money to him.
The man then reached across the counter and grabbed an unknown amount of money and then fled the scene.
The suspect is described as having a slim build and dreadlocks. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
And finally, a report detailing the fifth drug overdose in the last five days was filed with the police department Sunday evening.
Police said the 47-year-old woman overdosed on an unknown amount of Xanax, Percocet and another assortment of prescription medications at a church on East Ash Street.
She was taken by Wayne EMS to the Wayne UNC Heath Care emergency department.
