A multi-agency traffic checkpoint Saturday at Ditchbank Road and N.C. 111 South resulted in multiple charges and citations being issued.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office teamed up with N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement and the Fremont Police Department for the operation.
The checkpoint led to eight driving while impaired charges being filed, along with 30 citations for various traffic violations. The citations included people driving with no license and driving while their license was revoked, as well as child safety seat violations, according to a press release.
Two wanted people were arrested and two misdemeanor drug violations were charged.
The checkpoint utilized the N.C. Mobile Breath Alcohol Testing Unit, better known as the BAT mobile.
The unit has several breath testing tools and a magistrate inside.
All of the people charged were arrested and taken to the Wayne County Jail after being processed through the magistrate on scene.
