The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying two men wanted for allegedly trying to rob a woman at gunpoint after following her out of a store.

Authorities say the two men followed the victim out of the Walmart in Mount Olive on Aug. 6, driving behind her as she left the parking lot.

After driving for a bit with the men following her, the woman eventually pulled her car off of Old Mount Olive Highway and turned onto a farm access road.

A press release Tuesday said the woman turned off onto the side road because the main road was closed due to a storm washout.

One of the men then got out of the car behind her, approached the woman's driver's side window and allegedly demanded, at gunpoint, that she get out of her car.

She then was able to accelerate and get away, but the suspect then fired multiple gunshots at her car, causing damage to the vehicle.

The two men were in a burgundy sedan.

Capt. Shawn Harris said the Sheriff's Office was able to identify these two men as suspects by putting two and two together from the vehicle description given by the victim and surveillance footage pulled from Walmart.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Detective W. James Cornell at 919-731-1128, or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
