Wayne County Public Schools bringing local sports to cable TV

Wayne County Public Schools is launching a locally produced weekly sports show on the district cable TV channel.

"Coaches Corner" will air Thursday evenings at 8 and 10 p.m. on the Wayne County Education Alliance Channel, WCEA, found on Spectrum Cable Channel 18. Shows will air again on Friday mornings at 6:30 and 8 a.m.  and again at 12:30 p.m. Shows will also be posted on the district website,  www.waynecountyschools.org.

The weekly interview show is kicking off in conjunction with the upcoming schools' football season.

Host for the program is Steve Smith, recently  hired as the district's video and digital marketing specialist. Each week the six football coaches will have the opportunity to discuss the prior week's game as well as the upcoming game.

The show will also introduce other segments and feature other sports when those seasons roll around. Smith, formerly a radio DJ who went by Steve Harper, previously worked at the former WEQR and was featured on the "Wayne County High School Football Game of the Week."
