A motorcycle rider led deputies on a chase from Potts Road to Arrington Bridge Road Friday night, reaching speeds of 100 mph before deputies got him into custody.

Tremell Deleon Burns, 34, of 5604 Mesa Court, Fayetteville, is charged with felony fleeing to elude, resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer and speeding 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A report said a deputy spotted Burns speeding in the opposite direction on Potts Road and tried to pull him over.

When the deputy turned around and flipped on his blue lights and sirens, Burns sped off and passed two cars in front of him.

The deputy chased Burns from Potts Road to the 3600 block of Arrington Bridge Road. Burns then stopped and a passenger got off of his motorcycle.

Burns then turned his motorcycle around and sped back toward the deputy, who had gotten out of his car and started toward the pair on foot.

At the last second, Burns cut the bike to the side, missing the deputy, and lost control of his motorcycle, wrecking it into the grass.

Burns then got up and ran, and the deputy shot his taser at the suspect but missed.

Another deputy had arrived for backup and the two deputies chased Burns down on foot and arrested him.

Maj. Richard Lewis said it was not immediately clear which route Burns took from Potts Road to Arrington Bridge Road, but there were two 45 mph zones -- Genoa Road and Emmaus Church Road -- in which the man could have reached 100 mph.

Burns was given a $7,000 unsecured bond on the charges.

Lewis confirmed the passenger was not charged with anything after the chase.
