Schools to host open houses

Wayne County Public Schools will hold a round of open house events this week in anticipation of schools on the traditional calendar resuming on Monday, Aug. 28.

Several schools already started classes earlier this month, including Goldsboro High School, Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College High School.

Remaining schools will hold open houses for parents to have an opportunity to visit their child's school and get familiar with classrooms and teachers.

The event for middle and high schools will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m., with a few exceptions.

Eastern Wayne Middle School held a separate open house for its new class of sixth-graders. on Tuesday evening.

Seventh- and eighth-graders at the school are invited to attend their open house today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Brogden Middle will hold a parent meeting tonight at 5, with classroom visits to follow.

Charles B. Aycock High will hold its event tonight from 6 to 8 to accommodate parents who also have open house to attend for children at Norwayne Middle.

Open house at elementary schools around the county will take place Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Teachers at Edgewood Community Developmental School will contact parents to schedule appointments to meet on Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
