The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is warning the public to lock their car doors after taking upward of 50 motor vehicle break-in reports since the first of July.

A press release said residents in Pikeville and Goldsboro have reported their cars being broken into.

The break-ins have happened in the areas of:

* Mill Bluff Drive

* Sweeten Branch Road

* Nahunta Road

* Church of God Road

* Wesley Drive

* Planters Ridge

* Forest Knolls Road

* Stratford Road

* Ryan Boulevard

* Ryan Court

* Ryan Road

* Goldleaf Drive

* U.S. 117 South Alternate

* Woodland Church Road

* Rosewood Road

* Community Drive

The agency is asking the public to call them if anyone sees anything suspicious.

To deter thefts, belongings and valuables should be removed from vehicles and doors should remain locked.

Most of the reported incidents happened to cars that were unlocked.

Detectives are investigating the leads they have, and ask that anyone with information about the break-ins call 919-731-1481.

People can also call or text Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or submit a tip at p3tips.com.

Information given to Crime Stoppers that leads to a felony arrest will be rewarded with cash.
