A Dudley man is facing a slew of charges after being arrested Monday for sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint.

Travis John Ham, 23, of 105 Poandl Place, is charged with felony first-degree sex offense, felony assault by strangulation, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female, injury to personal property, communicating threats and interfering with emergency communications.

Capt. Shawn Harris of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said the sexual assault happened some time between Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Harris confirmed Ham allegedly held the victim at gunpoint, and prevented her from calling 911.

"She was not allowed to dial 911," Harris said. "She was trying to communicate by telephone, and when you interrupt someone trying to make a 911 call -- or attempting to make a 911 call or attempting to call for assistance -- that's interruption of communications."

When the incident was reported Monday, the agency launched an investigation and secured warrants on Ham.

Harris said Ham turned himself in at the Wayne County Sheriff's Annex and was cooperative with law enforcement, but did not know how Ham learned the warrants had been taken out on him.

"I can say he was cooperative," Harris said. "He did interact with law enforcement."

A press release said Ham knew the woman he is accused of sexually assaulting.

Ham was put in the Wayne County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
