MOUNT OLIVE -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men who followed a woman out of a parking lot and shot at her after a failed robbery attempt on Sunday.

The woman was leaving Walmart at about 9:40 p.m. when a car pulled out behind her and began following her.

The person driving the car followed her to Old Mount Olive Highway. Instead of continuing toward her home, the woman told authorities she pulled off a side road at 3478 Old Mount Olive Highway, where some turkey houses are located.

She told authorities she pulled down a side road because she did not want the person in the car behind her to know where she lived.

The car pulled in behind her when she turned off the highway, blocking her in.

One of the men in the car then got out, walked up to her car, pointed a shotgun at her and reportedly said, "Unlock the doors and give me your purse."

Another man was reportedly standing behind her car.

Capt. Shawn Harris with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said the woman did not hand over her purse, and the men did not get anything from her.

The woman then rolled up her window and drove away, and one of the men shot at her, damaging her car.

When she got back on Old Mount Olive Highway, the car was still following her.

The men following her turned off on Everett Road and she continued on to the Mount Olive Police Department to report the incident.

She was not injured. Her car suffered an estimated $5,000 in damage.
