General manager Rachael Barrett prepares for the opening of Dunkin' Donuts on Berkeley Boulevard, near Cashwell Drive.
Dunkin' Donuts will start serving up its popular coffees, donuts and breakfast sandwiches when it opens to the public Friday morning.
Avery Ivery, Dunkin' Donuts public relations executive, confirmed Wednesday the donut shop's plans to open this week, starting at 6 a.m. Friday.
Dunkin' Donuts, which will provide drive-through and indoor customer service, will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. at its 500 N. Berkeley Blvd. location, near Cashwell Drive.
"We are thrilled to be opening a Dunkin' Donuts in the city of Goldsboro," said George Ross, franchise owner with Coastal Franchising. "The local community and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base have been amazing already, and we are excited to finally open."
The store's 35 to 40 employees spent most of the week training and preparing for the opening and outdoor finishing touches were made to the newly paved parking lot, the building and outdoor landscaping.
Dunkin' Donuts will have indoor seating for approximately 26 customers, an outdoor patio, free WiFi service and signature merchandise, including ground coffee, for sale.
A grand opening celebration is planned on Sept. 29 -- National Coffee Day -- when specials and giveaways are planned at the Goldsboro store, said Meaghan Cohanski, field marketing representative for Dunkin' Donuts in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dunkin' Donuts is located inside a former bank building, which underwent an extensive indoor and outside remodeling during the past several months.
The donut shop is occupying more than half of the building, and the owner is working to lure another business into the remaining 1,500 square foot tenant space, alongside Dunkin' Donuts and facing Berkeley Boulevard.
Ross, the franchise owner of 40 Dunkin' Donuts locations across the Carolinas, set his sights on the Goldsboro market close to two years ago.
Other locations, including Wayne Memorial Drive, were considered prior to securing the Berkeley Boulevard site, which is along one of the city's busiest thoroughfares and near Berkeley Mall and the entrance gate to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
