Sheriff's deputy finds 33 grams of crack in trunk

A deputy who smelled marijuana coming from a car while getting gas Friday searched the car and found 33 grams of crack cocaine inside, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Taurean Edward Farrior, 32, of 2838 Ward St., is charged with felony trafficking cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine and possession of marijuana.
The report said the deputy was getting gas at the BP gas station on U.S. 117 South when he smelled marijuana.
After waiting a few minutes, all the vehicles in the area of the gas pumps had cleared out except one.
The deputy went up to the vehicle and asked a woman inside if there were any illegal substances inside the car, who said she didn't know because the car was her boyfriend's.
Farrior then walked out of the gas station and the deputy asked him if there was anything in the car they should know about.
Farrior said nothing was in the car, but the deputy searched the car anyway since he could smell marijuana.
During the search, the deputy found 33 grams of crack cocaine, two grams of marijuana and a scale in the center console, according to the report.
In the trunk, the deputy found two Pyrex glass measuring cups, a box of sandwich bags and a large amount of wax paper baggies, the report said.
The deputy also seized $1,382 in cash.
Farrior's bond for the charges was not listed on his arrest sheet or the report filed on the incident.
