The Wings Over Wayne Air Show returns to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, bringing a host of high-flying spectacles and military demonstrations to Goldsboro.

The Oak Forest Road and Berkeley Boulevard gates open at 8 a.m., with signs and event personnel set up to guide guests to parking lots. Shuttles will move between the color-coded parking sections every 20 to 30 minutes to help move people around the base.

The show kicks off at 10 a.m., when the Black Daggers parachute demonstration team takes to the skies. The first hour of the show features six other demonstrations, including F-15E Strike Eagle and B-2 bomber flybys.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., eight more demonstrations take to the skies. Among these is the Tora, Tora, Tora Pearl Harbor re-enactment group at 12:44, a team of dozens of pilots, pyrotechnics experts and support staff dedicated to presenting an authentic re-creation of the infamous Dec. 7, 1941, attack.

Seven more demonstrations wind out the show, culminating in a demonstration by the world-famous Blue Angels flying team at 3:22 p.m. The Blue Angels have performed all over the world, appearing across much of Europe, Asia and the United States. The 17-person team includes seven F/A-18 Hornet pilots and three C-130 Hercules "Fat Albert" pilots.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend Wings Over Wayne, so it pays to be prepared. The flight line gets hot and bright during the day, so be sure to bring plenty of bottled water and sunscreen even if you don't plan on being out all day. The Oak Forest gate will close at 2 p.m., while the Berkeley gate will be open until 6 p.m. Parking off base will be available near Greenwood Middle School and Meadow Lane Elementary School, and anyone parking at those locations will need to come on base through a pedestrian gate.

Admision is free.
