The Wayne County Sheriff's Office drug unit found heroin in a Goldsboro woman's vehicle after she consented to a search during a traffic stop Wednesday, according to a press release.
Amanda Gail Freeman, 23, of 103 E. Parks Road, was driving in the city when the drug unit recognized her and discovered she had a suspended license.
Freeman gave officers permission to search her vehicle where they found a small quantity of heroin and syringes, the press release said.
The drug unit was continuing an investigation into Freeman selling and distributing narcotics.
Maj. Tom Effler could not confirm where the officers stopped Freeman, but he said she was arrested at the magistrate's office.
"They (deputies) recognized her," he said. "They knew her. They knew she didn't have any license."
Freeman is charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was placed in the Wayne County jail under a $2,000 secured bond.
"One investigation will lead to another investigation," he said.
Effler said Freeman is no longer in jail.
