Nearly 300 students representing 28 schools from Wayne County Public Schools will showcase their talents Tuesday night during the 2017 All County Choral Festival at 6:30 p.m. at Goldsboro High School.
The event is free to the public.
"This is an event our district and school communities look forward to each year," said Kim Copeland, director specialist. "We appreciate the hard work of the participating students, assisting music teachers and chorus directors, and of course our guest conductors whose collective efforts make the annual All County Choral Festival an evening to remember."
The program is divided into three parts, performed by elementary, middle and high school vocalists.
An accomplished professional will direct each group of singers.
Christy White, music teacher at Banks Elementary School in Kinston, will conduct the elementary school chorus.
The middle school chorus will be directed by David Dobbins, choral director at Southeast Guilford Middle School in Greensboro.
Carol Riggs, retired music educator, will lead the high school chorus.
Justin Bruyer, assistant principal at Greenwood Middle School, will master of ceremonies for the evening.
Ms. Copeland also recognized Jason Cox, the district's lead choral teacher, for working with all the music teachers and choral directors in anticipation of the event. He also organized the full day of rehearsal prior to the evening concern for students to practice their selections with the guest conductors, she said.
