Someone shot into a car in the Berkeley Mall parking lot Sunday night, but nobody was injured, according to police reports.

The report said 38-year-old Tristen Deshay Melvin and 19-year-old Tyonne Daquez McKinnon were sitting in 2011 Chevrolet Impala when a black man dressed in all black came up behind the car and began shooting at it around 8:20 p.m.

Maj. Anthony Carmon, head of the Goldsboro Police Department's Investigative Services Bureau, said six shots were fired at the car.

Carmon said police recovered six shell casings but declined to specify what caliber of bullet was recovered, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Carmon also did not know if the shooting was called in by someone or if police responded to a ShotSpotter alert.

The two men were parked near Ninja Hibachi Express at 601 N. Berkeley Blvd. when the shooting happened, according to the report.

The back glass and trunk of the vehicle were struck by the gun fire, the report said.

Carmon said the alleged shooter fled on foot.
