State, local offices to close

Local, state and federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday that falls on Sunday.
The FEMA/North Carolina Emergency Management Disaster Recovery Center will be closed Saturday, Dec. 31, through Monday, Jan. 2.
Tuesday, Jan. 3, the recovery center will return to its regular hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The center is located in the W.A. Foster Center at Mina Weil Park.
Wayne County offices and town halls in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Walnut Creek, Seven Springs, Eureka, Fremont and Pikeville will be closed Monday.
In Goldsboro, solid waste pickup originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 2, will be serviced instead on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Household garbage pickup will not be affected in Mount Olive, but yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day.
The town's recyclable center will be closed on Monday and will re-open on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 8 a.m.
In Fremont, trash will be picked up on Tuesday instead of Monday.
Wayne County public schools are closed through Jan. 2, and the system's central office will be closed Monday.
Carolina Southern Sanitation will operate on a normal schedule.
