Members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department serve a search warrant to the occupants of a home in the Stoney Creek Apartments on Thursday.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at the Stoney Creek Apartments around 2 p.m. Thursday when they discovered a man there that had allegedly shot at a vehicle on Wayne Memorial Drive earlier that day.

Capt. Richard Lewis, with the sheriff's office, said Absalom Cobb was standing outside his car at Tommy's Food Mart at the intersection of Tommy's Road and Wayne Memorial Drive when he shot at a vehicle with people inside of it that was driving on Wayne Memorial Drive.

Cobb, 24, of 210 E. Pine St., was arrested in connection to the shooting and was charged with discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Cobb was put in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.

Deputies found Cobb's black Kia Sorento at the Stoney Creek Apartments after reviewing video footage of the shooting that showed the vehicle had fled the scene traveling north.

They then executed a search warrant on the vehicle and the apartment Cobb was found in.

Lewis said a search of the vehicle did not yield any evidence connected to the shooting.

"We found bullets inside the house," Lewis said.

There were at least two bullet holes in the victim's vehicle, Lewis said, but nobody was injured in the shooting.

"We will diligently pursue this investigation as part of our endeavors to suppress violence in Wayne County," said Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce, who aided deputies in executing the search warrant Thursday.
