A man was arrested and charged with drug offenses in Pikeville Aug. 29 after a traffic stop, according to a press release from the Pikeville police department.

According the to release, officer H.C. Graham was driving along US 117/Pearl St. when he pulled over Christian Lee Newberry, 23, of 107 Sherrell Place for registration violations. After making contact, Graham allegedly smelled marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a search, at which point he discovered 13 grams of marijuana along with several items of marijuana paraphernalia, according to the release. Graham also reportedly found 40 individual plastic baggies and $275 cash in the car.

Newberry was charged with possession with intent to sell or distribute a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was given a $3,000 unsecured bond, according to the report.
