Man is assaulted with BB gun, pepper spray

A Goldsboro man was arrested Friday after allegedly assaulting a man with pepper spray and a BB gun when the victim wandered just off the paved bike path in the woods near the 2100 block of East Ash Street behind Bicycle World.
According to an incident report, the reported victim was in the woods off of the paved bicycle path when a man popped up out of a hole in the ground, pointed a BB gun at him and demanded he leave the area. The man then allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the victim's eyes, put the BB gun to the back of the victim's head and forced the victim to leave the area.
Officers found the victim sitting on the side of the road in the 2100 block of East Ash Street and were able to search the woods and locate the man that allegedly attacked the victim.
Maurice Terrell Artis, 25, streets of Goldsboro, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and given a $2,500 secured bond.
Artis was found living in an encampment adjacent to the intersection of Peachtree Street and Durant Street, behind Bicycle World, a report says.
