A Goldsboro Police Department officer who was charged with driving while intoxicated in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 5, has resigned.
Stacey Olivia Hatcher, 44, of 119 Mill Creek Court, handed in her letter of resignation to Goldsboro Police Chief Mike West Friday, Aug. 12.
"She handed in her letter of resignation and I accepted it," West said.
Hatcher was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, by the Pikeville Police Department during an administrative traffic checkpoint at the intersection of Pikeville-Princeton Road and Nahunta Road.
According to an incident report filed with the Pikeville Police Department, Hatcher's blood alcohol content was 0.10.
The report says that during the traffic checkpoint, the arresting officer observed the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, Hatcher had an unlit cigarette in her mouth and the vehicle she was driving appeared to have an expired inspection.
There were two people in the car with Hatcher at the time of the stop, the report says.
According to the report, Hatcher consented to a preliminary breathalyzer test and the result said her blood alcohol content was 0.12.
Hatcher was asked to pull to the shoulder of the road and instructed by the arresting officer to not drink or smoke.
The arresting officer then helped another officer with a traffic citation and came back to Hatcher's vehicle.
The report says Hatcher then consented to another preliminary breathalyzer test, and her blood alcohol content again registered as 0.12.
Hatcher performed a series of roadside tests and "performed poorly showing several signs of impairment," the report says.
Hatcher was then arrested and taken into custody to perform a final breathalyzer test. She requested a witness to be present for the test, but a witness never showed up, the report says.
During the final breathalyzer test, Hatcher's blood alcohol content was 0.10.
Hatcher was not given any bond and signed a written promise to appear in court.
She will appear in court on Nov. 10.
Hatcher was employed with the Goldsboro Police Department for 13 years.
