On Friday, July 22 shortly after 1 p.m. Goldsboro Police Department officers responded to a call that someone had been shot and was being taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The victim, Atiya Maddox, 19, was pronounced deceased at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The incident is reported to have occurred near the intersection of Olivia Lane and Slaughter Street.
The investigation is ongoing.
