First responders pull Shenika Chesnut out of the car she was driving that was involved in a wreck on N.C. 111 South and Bill Lane Boulevard Wednesday morning.

A two car wreck at the intersection of N.C. 111 South and Bill Lane Boulevard early Wednesday morning sent one woman to the hospital with minor injuries.

The wreck happened just after 9 a.m. when a woman was turning left onto N.C. 111 off of Bill Lane Boulevard, and a truck allegedly ran a red light and hit the woman on the driver's side of her car.

As a result, the woman driving, Shenika Chestnut, 32, of Dudley, incurred minor injuries and had to be extricated from her silver Pontiac G6 by firefighters.

The man driving the truck, Terry Lee Hunter, of 712 Powell Drive, Rocky Mount, did not sustain any injuries, but the front of the 1987 Nissan truck he was driving was smashed in and the windshield was cracked.

According to Trooper J.S. Smith, Hunter was charged with failing to stop at a red light and no operator's license for not having a driver's license.

Ms. Chestnut's car was towed away from the scene by S&D Towing out of Seven Springs, while Hunter's car was left at the scene.

El-Roy Volunteer Fire Department Engine 4 and Truck 1 responded to the scene, as well as the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Wayne County EMS.
