Larceny attempt reported

A woman allegedly attempted to steal more than $500 worth of merchandise from Belk on Wednesday.
Tasha Jean Judd, 42, of Kinston, allegedly entered the Belk at Berkeley Mall on Wednesday and concealed six Polo gift sets valued at $552 inside two purses.
An employee at Belk confronted Ms. Judd inside the store, and Ms. Judd then reportedly dropped the purses and fled the store.
According to a report, Ms. Judd jumped into the passenger seat of a tan 2002 Mercury Sable as she fled the scene.
Ms. Judd is reportedly known to the employee who reported the incident from a previous larceny at the store. Police advised the employee of the warrant process.
