A man accused of embezzling more than $10,000 from the Goldsboro Tennis Association has now been accused of also embezzling roughly $3,000 from the Timber Lake Property Owners Association.
Michael Boothman, of 8250 Lakewood Branch Blvd. Apt. 101, Bladenton, Fla., is currently being investigated on charges of embezzlement from the homeowners association in the neighborhood he resided in when he lived in Wayne County, according to an incident report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Thursday night.
When Boothman lived in Wayne County, his address was 103 Stargrass Circle.
Capt. Richard Lewis with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Boothman has not yet been formally charged in the embezzlement from Timber Lake Property Owners Association, but is being actively investigated.
Boothman is the former treasurer of the Timber Lake Property Owners Association, according to the report filed on the allegations.
A representative with the Timber Lake Property Owners Association reported the alleged embezzlement to the sheriff's office Thursday night, and said they had found there should have been roughly $3,000 in funds for the homeowners association but the funds were short by that amount, and believe that Boothman is to blame, the report says.
Detectives with the sheriff's office are expected to begin their investigation into the allegations today, Lewis said.
Boothman turned himself in on July 7 after warrants were issued for his arrest for felony embezzlement of $10,775 from the Goldsboro Tennis Association. Boothman is the former president of the tennis association.
