Man charged with statutory sex offense

A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl over a two-year period.
Mauricio Alfredo Castillo Garcia, 37, of 205 Timber Hollow Drive, was charged with a statutory sex offense and placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $300,000 secured bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office received a report on the allegations of the assault on July 10, and learned that the victim knew the suspect and the sexual assaults had allegedly taken place for the last two years.
The case was assigned to the investigations division on July 11, and after an all-day investigation on the allegations warrants were secured on Garcia.
Garcia was located at his residence the evening of July 11 and arrested without incident.
Maj. Tom Effler with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Garcia and the victim were "just acquaintances."
Effler said Garcia had his first appearance in Wayne County court earlier this week.
