Wayne County to benefit from state sales tax distribution rule

Wayne County is one of the counties that will benefit from changes enacted by the General Assembly in how sales tax revenues are distributed.
The county's 2016-17 budget proposal reflects what County Manager George Wood calls a "significant" revenue increases in the three older local sales taxes and $1.2 million from the new Article 44 sales tax.
The budget proposal estimates the county will receive $19,864,998, up from $17,338,608 in the amended 2016 budget.
Revenues from Article 39 are projected to increase by 8.8 percent or $638,696; Article 40 by 5.1 percent or $287,751; and Article 42 by 8.0 percent or $360,501.
