A 2001 Dodge Durango driven by Amber Noel Dussault sits in a ditch after running off of the road and flipping several times on Old Smithfield Road Monday afternoon. Dussault, found lying in the ditch, was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A Goldsboro woman is being charged with driving while influenced after running her car off the road on Monday evening and causing it to flip over several times, covering more than 400 feet.

Amber Noelle Dussault, of 106 Cedar Creek Drive, was found lying in a ditch beside her car just after 4 p.m. Monday after she drove off the road at 112 Old Smithfield Road, flipping her car and hitting the mailbox in front of the residence. She suffered several injuries and is suspected of driving while intoxicated.

The vehicle landed upright on its wheels, but the roof was caved in and several windows were smashed out because of the crash.

"I don't know if she was ejected from the car or if she crawled out before we got here," said North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Jonathan Smith. "But I know she wasn't wearing her seat belt."

Ms. Dussault was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital by Wayne County EMS to receive treatment for her injuries.

Her vehicle was taken to George's Body Shop.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no one else was injured as a result of the crash.
