News-Argus earns several press awards

The News-Argus' John Joyce was awarded second place in the beat news reporting category for coverage of the Goldsboro Police Department, garnering praise for "well rounded and strong" reporting using "better new school style with old school substance."

The New Argus' Casey Mozingo came away with two commendations, earning third place in the sports feature photo category with a shot of motocross rider. The photo was awarded for its ability to make the reader want to "stop and read the story."

Mrs. Mozingo was also awarded third place in feature photography for a shot of the releasing of the lanterns at Cures for the Colors.

The News-Argus' Steve Herring and editor Dennis Hill were awarded third place in the profile feature category for their combined work on the piece "Eastern N.C.'s champion," which highlighted the life and work of the late state Sen. John Kerr.

The News-Argus' Megan Davis earned a first-place award in the special section category for her work with the Wings Over Wayne 2015 special publication. This piece won for its "thorough, excellent graphics" and was lauded as a "classy piece."
