An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl are both recovering from gunshot wounds to the leg today after being shot near the Grand at Day Circle housing community Thursday after 8 p.m.
Ty'Quan Sutton, 18, of East Maple Street, and an unidentified girl were both transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Goldsboro police Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
The two were loaded into ambulances in front of the 1800 building at Day Circle, but no actual crime scene has been located.
"I don't know that we will find exactly where they were shot," he said.
Investigators searched an open field area behind the apartments, but found little.
"They found some blood back there near a bicycle that had been thrown down," Carmon said. He could not say whether one of the two victims had been on the bike or if it was left there by someone else prior to the shooting.
Two off-duty officers working a special assignment heard the shots and responded, according to the police report.
They located the victims and reported the shooting over the radio, the report said.
No suspect information is listed on the report. Both Sutton and the injured girl told police they did not see who shot them.
