A traffic stop in the 1000 block of West Grantham Street Thursday resulted in the seizure of two vehicles and a "kilo" of cocaine with a street value of $100,000, according to a Goldsboro Police Department press release.

Martin Resendiz Hernandez, 40, 3114 Central Heights Road Lot 13, is charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine and one count of conspiracy to traffic cocaine. He is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.

According to the press release, the arrest is part of an investigation conducted by the Goldsboro police with the help of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force.

The investigation led to a traffic stop during which Hernandez was arrested for driving without a license. He was found to be in possession of a key to another car parked at a separate location, the report said.

A K-9 unit was called in and the working dog, "Elvis," alerted on the second vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed an aftermarket hidden compartment located underneath the back passenger seat. Hidden in the compartment were 1,000 grams -- 1 kilogram -- of powder cocaine. The compartment was large enough to have concealed several more kilos, the report said.

Searches of several residences and a storage room also turned up powder cocaine, but the press release did not indicate in what amounts or value.

Hernandez was scheduled for a first appearance in Wayne County District Court Friday.
