Fiante Semaj Amerson, 24, of 213 Nancy Drive, Dudley, was shot in his right leg Wednesday night while standing in the driveway of 905 N. Virginia St.
An unnamed suspect is wanted for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to seriously injure.
Amerson signed a non-prosecution form for the case, effectively closing the case to any further investigation by the Goldsboro Police Department.
Maj. Anthony Carmon with the Investigation Services Division of the Goldsboro Police Department said Amerson did not provide a reason as to why he did not want further investigation into who shot him in the leg.
The gunshot wound was not severe, Carmon said.
"It was not severe at all," Carmon said. "I'm not sure if it just grazed him or if it was a through and through (wound), but he is probably out of the hospital by now."
Amerson was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
