A Goldsboro police officer assaulted during a disturbance at the Piggly Wiggly in Goldsboro Monday is uninjured and back at work today, officials said this morning.
He is, however, driving a different patrol car.
Staff members at the Piggly Wiggly, located at 100 Lionel St., had a woman detained after she allegedly assaulted them. Police arrived and identified the woman as Joeshawnna Yavette Brinson, 29, of 109 Denning Road.
As Officer Earl McIntyre began placing Ms. Brinson into his patrol vehicle, she began striking him with her shoulder, according to the police report. Once inside the patrol vehicle, she started kicking the rear window of the police cruiser, causing it to shatter.
The damage to the vehicle is listed at $400.
Ms. Brinson is charged with assault on a government official, damage to property and simple assault. She was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center and released under a $9,000 secured bond. She is due to appear in Wayne County District Court Aug. 26.
